The purpose of this lesson was to identify the effects of a, h, and k on the graph of y = a|x-h|+k.
Students were given a slip of paper with an equation on it. They then had to use an electronic graphing tool to graph the parent function y = |x| along with the transformed function. The students then had to describe the characteristics of the transformed function compared to the parent function.
